2025 is coming to a close, and changes to the tax code beginning January 1, 2026, could affect how — and when — you choose to give to WRTI and other nonprofits.
Here’s the information you need to maximize your tax-smart giving this year — all while supporting the music you love.
- Are you planning on itemizing your taxes? Starting in 2026, you will need to give at least 0.5% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) to claim a charitable deduction. Consider maximizing your giving in 2025 before the new rule takes effect.
- Are you in the top tax bracket? Starting in 2026, the tax deduction benefits for top earners decrease. Consider giving more this year to avoid losing out on tax benefits next year.
Individual Retirement Account Gifts (Qualified Charitable Distributions)
If you are 70 ½ or older you may be able to transfer funds from your IRA to WRTI without paying any federal income tax. Simply direct a charitable distribution to:
