Live from WRTI: Marrazza-Cart Duo Plays Music for Flute and Piano by Cesar Franck and Eric Sessler

Composer Eric Sessler joins the duo and WRTI's Susan Lewis hosts.

Cesar Franck: Excerpts from Sonata in A Major

On Sunday, March 1st, the Marrazza- Cart Duo performs a concert entitled, "Passions, New & Old." The concert at 1906 Rittenhouse Square, presented by The Philadelphia Ethical Society, features music by Cesar Franck and Eric Sessler, as well as the world premiere of Jennifer Higdon's Nocturne as arranged for flute and piano.

The Marrazza-Cart Duo is a chamber ensemble formed by pianist Regina DiMedio Marrazza and flutist Robert Cart. The duo performs throughout the mid-Atlantic region, and has premiered new works by Jennifer Higdon and Gary Schocker.

Robert is professor of flute at the Cali School of Music of Montclair State University, and Gina is Creative Projects Coordinator for Aces at Montgomery College.

Composer Eric Sessler, who teaches at the Curtis Institute of Music, has written works for Grammy-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux, Philadelphia Orchestra flutist Jeffrey Khaner, organist Alan Morrison, and the Dover Quartet. 

Susan writes and produces stories about music and the arts. She’s host and producer of WRTI’s TIME IN online interview series, and contributes weekly intermission interviews for The Philadelphia Orchestra in Concert series. She’s also been a regular host of WRTI’s Live from the Performance Studio sessions.
