As part of thePublic Radio Music Summit andNonCOMMvention happening in Philadelphia next week, WRTI is happy to present a very special, free performance by GRAMMY-winning artist Derrick Hodge on Monday, May 2nd at 7:30pm at City Winery in Philadelphia.
Hodge will play music from his 3rd solo album, released on Blue Note, The Color of Noize, augmenting it with live strings and featuring Philly's own Nazir Ebo on drums.
A proud graduate of Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance, with a degree in jazz composition and performance, Hodge is also a two-time GRAMMY winner and fresh off of gigs arranging music for the Super Bowl and the Oscars.
Hodge is now for the Hollywood Bowl's 100th-season opening show on June 3rd featuring Branford Marsalis, Gwen Stefani, the LA Philharmonic conducted by Gustavo Dudamel (and premiering a new John Williams piece), and ballet dancer Roberto Bolle.
Needless to say, we're incredibly lucky to have him fly in from Denver to treat us to this premier performance in Philadelphia.
This event is FREE and open to the public. All we ask is that you sign up ahead of timehere.
Doors open at 7 PM and WRTI will record the performance for future broadcast and release on theNPR Live Sessions platform. See you there!
