Join Jill Pasternak for a candid interview with the distinguished pianist Garrick Ohlsson. Since his triumph as winner of the 1970 Chopin International Piano Competition, Ohlsson has established himself worldwide as a musician of magisterial interpretive and technical prowess. In celebration of Chopin's 200th Birthday that's coming up on March 1, the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society will host a performance by Ohlsson on January 19th at 8 pm at the Kimmel Center with an all-Chopin program.
Ohlsson honed his craft as a student of the late Claudio Arrau, and has been widely praised for his "flawless precision and delicacy, driven by an astute insight" (Globe & Mail, Toronto). Although he has long been regarded as one of the world's leading exponents of the music of Frederic Chopin, Mr. Ohlsson commands an enormous repertoire, which ranges over the entire piano literature.
