An All-New Wanamaker Organ Hour on WRTI: Peter Richard Conte Showcases Two New CDs, May 10, 5 PM

Join us for an all-new Wanamaker Organ Hour show with Peter Richard Conte and Jill Pasternak surveying two new CDs recorded with the Wanamaker Organ as part of two duets - of sorts.

The first CD is Peter's spectacular collaboration with the young music teacher and flugelhornist, Andrew Ennis - My Heart At Thy Sweet Voice. The title is based on a line from the Saint-Saens opera, Samson and Delilah, and the aria in which that line appears leads off the CD. Peter and Jill play several tracks from the disc, including Puccini's "Nessun Dorma," the "Mondscheinmusik" from Strauss's Cappricio, Grainger's Shepherd's Hey and "Elsa's Procession" from Wagner's Lohengrin.

The second CD is a recording of the 2011 Wanamaker Organ Centennial Concert that also featured Maestro Rossen Milanov leading South Jersey's Symphony in C. Hearing the Wanamaker Organ playing as part of an orchestra is breathtaking. You'll hear a single work, Charles-Marie Widor's Sixth Symphony for organ and orchestra, during the last half of the show.

Peter also reveals details about this year's Wanamaker Organ Day, fast approaching on Saturday, June 6th. And, yes, it will once again start with a special live edition of Crossover with Jill Pasternak that day.

Tune in for the Wanamaker Organ Hour, with Grand Court Organist Peter Richard Conte and WRTI's Jill Pasternak, on the first Sunday of each month at 5 pm* on WRTI and the All-Classical web stream at wrti.org. *Broadcast dates vary. Check our website each month for exact broadcast dates.

It's his parents' fault. For Joe's sixth birthday, they gave him a transistor radio. All of a sudden, their dreams of having a doctor or lawyer (or even a fry cook) in the family went down the tubes.
