Macy's Grand Court Organist Peter Richard Conte launches Season 12 of the Wanamaker Organ Hour on Sunday, February 7th, from 5 to 6 pm with all-new shows! The Wanamaker Organ is the world's largest musical instrument and one of its greatest treasures, housed in Macy's Center City and played daily every day but Sunday since 1911.
Usually you'll hear Peter's performances, acclaimed wordwide for his "...flawless technique combined with showmanship with just enough restraint...great fun to hear," according to the AAM Journal from the Association of Anglican Musicians. But you'll also be treated to performances from, and conversation with, guest organists in town to play the Wanamaker. Also featured will be the organ's regular stable of performers and curatorial staff.
The Wanamaker Organ Hour is a production of WRTI, generously underwritten by the Friends of the Wanamaker Organ and Macy's Center City, where you can experience "The Magic of Macy's" every day in one of America's National Historical Landmark buildings (designated 1978).
On the program this Sunday (all works performed by Peter Richard Conte on the Wanamaker Organ):
Kreisler: Liebesfreud
JS Bach: Prelude and Fugue in C Major (9/8)
Reger: Introduction and Passacaglia in D Minor
Franck: Choral No. 2 in B Minor
