
Hannah Rose Nicholas
Classical HostHannah Rose Nicholas is a professional violist and substitute classical host at WRTI.
Since 2018 Hannah has been the principal violist of the Philadelphia Ballet Orchestra and a substitute violist with The Philadelphia Orchestra. She has performed on numerous series including Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Network for New Music, Lincoln Center Atrium 360, O Miami Poetry Festival, Festival Mozaic, and Garth Newel Festival. She has toured with the East Coast Chamber Orchestra and soloed with the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra in Switzerland.
Hannah speaks in front of audiences frequently, and has been inspired by great speakers along the way, including her teachers Paul Arnold of The Philadelphia Orchestra, Paul Hersh from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Michael Tilson Thomas, the music director of the New World Symphony during Hannah’s orchestral fellowship there.
Hannah has been a guest artist at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Texas El Paso, the El Paso Holocaust Museum, and the Knight Arts Foundation in Miami. She currently teaches viola at Swarthmore College and heads her own chamber music series, Hannah Rose Presents.
Hannah plays on a viola made by Hiroshi Iizuka. She lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband Adrian and two sons, Art and Gene.
