Missed It? You Can Hear Performances from Wanamaker Organ Day 2019 on WRTI 90.1

Aug 1, 2019

Join us Sunday, August 4th from 5 to 6 PM on WRTI 90.1 as Grand Court Organist Peter Richard Conte hosts a special hour of musical highlights from Wanamaker Organ Day 2019.

The 26th annual Wanamaker Organ Day was extra special! It was this past June 1st when the newly restored organ case covered with 3.5 pounds of gold leaf was unveiled. It was a big day for the Friends of the Wanamaker Organ and Macy’s Center City. And as always, the music performed on the organ that day was pure gold as well.

You’ll hear works by Johann Strauss, Louis Vierne, Claude Debussy, Richard Wagner and more, including two compositions written by former Grand Court Organist, the late Dr. Keith Chapman performed during the morning, afternoon and evening concerts.

Performers include Philadelphia Brass, and organists Rudy Lucente, Monte Maxwell, Colin Howland, Ken Cowan and, of course, Mr. Conte himself.

Stellar music performed by stellar musicians to celebrate a stellar instrument, the world’s largest musical instrument, and one of its greatest musical treasures—on WRTI 90.1, Sunday, August 4th from 5 to 6 PM and streaming on WRTI.org and the WRTI mobile app.
