A Classical Thanksgiving with WRTI

We have the music for the perfect Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Beginning on Thursday, join us for a particularly American flavor with music by American composers from Copland to Bernstein to John Alden Carpenter.  There will also be a family celebration with some of the great names in music, including the Bachs, the Strauss family, father and son Mozart and more!

On Sunday afternoon at 3 pm, join us for a Symphony in C broadcast featuring Conductor Rossen Milanov and violin superstar and local favorite Leila Josefowicz performing music by Mussorgsky, Prokofiev, and Bernd Alois Zimmerman.

Then at 5 pm, Song of America with Thomas Hampson looks at Langston Hughes, one of America’s great poets, who gave jubilant voice to the lives of African Americans. His poetry has inspired settings by dozens of composers. You'll hear some of that music and learn about the world that inspired him.  A great holiday weekend at WRTI!
