Symphony in C on WRTI: Schumann, Mendelssohn, and Brahms, May 11, 3 PM

Violinist Augustin Hadelich

Acclaimed violinist Augustin Hadelich joins Symphony in Cand Music Director Rossen Milanov for one of the most beloved concertos in the repertoire - the Concerto in E minor, by Felix Mendelssohn. That's the centerpiece on this Sunday's broadcast.

Also on the program, the Manfred Overture by Robert Schumann, and the orchestral treatment of Johannes Brahms' Piano Quartet in G minor, Op. 25.  Arnold Schoenberg's orchestration of one of his personal favorites by Brahms has been characterized as wild and over-the-top, yet Schoenberg didn't change a note of Brahms' original work: it's a fascinating listen.  Symphony in C on WRTI, Sunday, May 11, 3 to 5 pm on WRTI.
