This Sunday at 1 pm on WRTI, it's a delightful re-broadcast of a Philadelphia Orchestra program from last November at Verizon Hall, which begins with Vivaldi’s famous four violin concerti known as "The Four Seasons," as vivid today as they were nearly 300 years ago. Violinist Giuliano Carmignola joins Richard Egarr, two of the foremost early-music specialists in the world today, for performances of these works.

Following intermission - during which WRTI's Jim Cotter speaks with Maestro Egarr, and WRTI's Susan Lewis speaks with the Orchestra's Principal Flutist David Bilger - it's the music of 17th-century English composer Henry Purcell, a suite from his music for The Fairy Queen - his adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream - and Haydn’s Symphony No. 101, one of his great “London” symphonies, nicknamed “The Clock” for the “ticking” rhythm of its second movement.
