A Fat Tuesday Music Parade - New Orleans Style - on WRTI! Feb. 9th at 9 PM

Celebrate Mardi Gras with WRTI!

"Let the good times roll" with WRTI's J. Michael Harrison starting at 9 pm on Mardi Gras to celebrate the city that gave birth to "America's Music" - jazz!  J. Michael will be the Grand Marshall of this Mardi Gras parade bringing you the best that New Orleans musicians have been offering throughout the years.

Expect some early New Orleans jazz from Louis Armstrong and The Original Dixieland Jazz Band, the"pop" side of New Orleans music with Louis Prima, and even New Orleans-style jazz played by artists who aren't natives, but inspired by that wonderful town.

Our parade will take a moment to stop and remember the great Allen Toussaint, lost to us late in 2015, and will continue on to bring music from the Marsalis family, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Herlin Riley, and other fabulous musicians who keep the legacy alive.

If you can't make it down to N'Awlins for the real thing, come to our Mardi Gras parade! Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Maureen began her radio career at WRTI in 1999 while studying broadcasting at Temple University. Determined to make it in the entertainment industry, she took advantage of all the creative opportunities presented to her at WRTI - she hosted the overnight jazz broadcasts through her entire college career, she was an arts and culture reporter, and she soaked up the jazz biz from her many WRTI mentors.
