This Sunday at 1 pm, WRTI presents a concert first heard at Verizon Hall in November, 2014. You'll hear the youthful and energetic Piano Concerto No. 1 of Beethoven performed by perennial favorite, pianist Andre Watts, who first played with The Philadelphia Orchestra at age 10.
Making his Philadelphia Orchestra debut is guest conductor Jakub Hrusa, music director of the Prague Philharmonia, in a program that also offers two works by composers from the Czech lands: The Jealousy Overture of Leos Janacek, originally intended as an overture to his great opera Jenufa, and Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 8, the composer's most self-consciously "Czech" symphony, and full of ebullience and sunny spirit.
During intermission, we'll visit backstage with André Watts and Maestro Hrusa.
