Watch and Listen: Guitarist Jason Vieaux with Violinist Kristin Lee on WRTI 90.1

On January 22, 2018, we presented a special LIVE broadcast. Grammy-winning Jason Vieaux, “among the elite of today’s classical guitarists” (Gramophone), played with award-winning violinist Kristin Lee in the WRTI 90.1 Performance Studio.

They performed music of Piazzolla, Paganini, and Vivian Fung, and spoke with WRTI Classical Host Debra Lew Harder about their remarkable careers, which include deep collaborations with musicians outside the classical realm.

Their performance for the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society on January 23rd was sold out—so we were doubly fortunate to be able to bring this dynamic to you live the day before their concert.

Jason Vieaux won the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Classical Instrumental Solo for his most recent solo album, Play. He’s performed with over 100 orchestras and has premiered countless new works. His recordings frequently make their way onto WRTI’s Saturday Morning Classical Coffeehouse playlist, not only for their impeccable style and technique, but for their rich range of repertoire.

Jason co-founded the guitar department at the Curtis Institute of Music in 2011, and has been head of the guitar department at the Cleveland Institute of Music since 2001.
