Hailed by The Philadelphia Inquirer for her "big, gorgeous tone and a mesmerizing touch," pianist Zhenni Li is a winner of numerous competitions, including the Councours Musical de France and Astral Artists’ 2016 National Auditions.

Zhenni speaks with host Debra Lew Harder and play music from her upcoming Philadelphia debut recital program, which will be presented by Astral at the American Philosophical Society on Sunday, October 28, and which she’s titled Debussy on the Orient Express.

Zhenni has recently appeared at Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. Her acclaimed release, “Melancholie,” for the Steinway & Sons label. will be followed by a new recording project, also for the Steinway label, of the works of Sergei Bortkiewicz.
An innovative and forward-thinking presenter of music, Zhenni is co-founder and artistic director of The Last Soirée, a multi-genre performing arts series based in New York, and Fishin’ in C, a chamber music series based in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood.
