Listen: Guitarist Jordan Dodson LIVE from the WRTI Performance Studio

Vanessa Briceño
Guitarist Jordan Dodson

Performance Today describes Jordan Dodson as “one of the top young guitarists of his generation.” Listen to Jordan perform music of Domenico Scarlatti, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Nicole Murphy, and Roland Dyens, live from the WRTI 90.1 performance studio with host Debra Lew Harder.

Watch the performance on the WRTI Facebook page.

Raised in Ohio, Jordan started out as an electric guitarist with his own rock band. He became intrigued by the sounds of classical music at 15, when he heard recordings by Andrés Segovia and Julian Bream, and began studying classical guitar. In 2011 he was one of two students chosen to inaugurate the classical guitar program at the Curtis Institute, where he studied with David Starobin and Jason Vieaux.

An Astral Artist, Jordan has appeared at prestigious venues such as Le Poisson Rouge and National Sawdust in New York, Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, The Kingston Chamber Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival. He’s won numerous competitions, including the Lilian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition, the Indiana International Guitar Competition, and Astral’s 2013 National Auditions. In 2013 he was a Young Artist in Residence on American Public Media’s Performance Today.

Jordan's passion for new music has led him to commission works by composers such as Robert Sirota and Gabriella Smith, and to perform and collaborate with Ensemble Moto Perpetuo, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE,) the NOW Ensemble, and many others.

Jordan believes the guitar, with its versatility, is a welcoming instrument, with the ability to break down barriers. We invite you to tune in on Thursday, March 29 at 12: 10 p.m., with host Debra Lew Harder, as we welcome Jordan to the WRTI performance studio for what's sure to be a captivating conversation and performance.
