Il-Su is a masters student of Dr. Carl Cranmer at West Chester University. She recently was selected by the University to be the recipient of the annual Jacobs Music Steinway Award, which is given at various universities to an outstanding pianist.

Born in Daejeon, Il-Su began playing the piano when she was six years old. At Daejeon High School, she won the Best Performer Award for three consecutive years and was also given several awards from the Samsung Scholarship Foundation. She graduated with honors from West Chester University and is currently in their Graduate Piano program, where she was awarded a full-tuition graduate assistantship.
