Watch and Listen: Trio Eos Sings Renaissance Love Songs Live from WRTI's Performance Studio
Praised for their "exquisite blending" and "weightless accuracy," (The Washington Post) the three singers of Trio Eos visited WRTI's Performance Studio on Tuesday, May 7th, in advance of their appearance with Piffaro, the Renaissance Band, to sing highlights from Piffaro's concert of Renaissance music celebrating love, lust, and life. WRTI's Susan Lewis is host.
The three singers of Trio Eos- soprano Jessica Beebe, mezzo-soprano Maren Mantalbano, and soprano Michele Kennedy - are not only proficient in period performance style, but they project warmth and charisma from the stage, as well as "a flair for the dramatic," says Bob Weimken, artistic director of Piffaro, The Renaissance Band.
Piffaro's season finale, Ce Moys de May, celebrates love songs of the Renaissance, illuminating the early modern romantic experience, through a variety of prisms: from the Petrachean paradox, sublimated desire, noble courtship, and rustic flirtation to love victorious!

Piffaro and Trio Eos perform Love, Lust, and Life: Ce Moys De May:
May 10th at 7:30 PM at Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral; May 11th at 7:30 PM at Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill; May 12th at 3:00 PM at Christ Church Christiana Hundred in Delaware.
Trio Eos aims to illuminate the beauty of the female voice and its full range of expression from the early Middle Ages through the Twenty-First Century.
This is the first appearance of the trio with Piffaro, but Jessica Beebe has appeared as a soloist on two Piffaro Christmas programs, and Maren Mantalbano sang on Piffaro's 2014 program of Elizabethan murder ballads at Eastern State Penitentiary.
Beebe and Montalbano first met while singing in the parish choir at St. Marks Church in Center City, Philadelphia. Among other Philadelphia connections, all three singers have worked with the Grammy Award-Winning chmaber choir, The Crossing.
