Live from WRTI 90.1's Performance Studio: Violinist Francisco Fullana Plays Mozart and Beethoven

Watch Spanish-born violinist Francisco Fullana perform live from the WRTI Performance Studio, accompanied by pianist Tomomi Sato, ahead of his appearance as guest soloist with The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. WRTI’s Susan Lewis hosts. 

Hailed as a "rising star" (BBC Music Magazine), whose playing is "electric and virtuosic" (The Strad), Fullana performs orchestral, recital and chamber music repertoire around the world.

The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia’s All-Beethoven program conducted by Dirk Brossé, with soloist Francisco Fullana, is on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 2:30 PM and Monday, November 4, 2019 at 7:30 PM

A native of Mallorca in the Balearic Islands of Spain, Fullana’s recent honors include a 2018 Avery Fisher Career Grant, the 2015 Pro Musicis International Award, and the 2014 Johannes Brahms International Violin Competition.

After studying in Spain and graduating from The Royal Conservatory of Madrid, Fullana earned bachelor's and master's degrees from The Juillard School and an Artist diploma from the USC Thornton School of Music, where he worked with renowned violinist Midori. 

He co-founded San Antonio's Classical Music Summer Institute, where he currently serves as Chamber Music Director.  He's also created the Fortissimo Youth Initiative, a series of Baroque and Classical music seminars and performances with youth orchestras. 

Susan writes and produces stories about music and the arts. She’s host and producer of WRTI’s TIME IN online interview series, and contributes weekly intermission interviews for The Philadelphia Orchestra in Concert series. She’s also been a regular host of WRTI’s Live from the Performance Studio sessions.
