Listen to baritone Keith Spencer sing four powerful African-American spirituals, as we usher in Black History Month at WRTI. Debra Lew Harder is host.
PROGRAM:
“Go Down, Moses” - arranged by Peter Hilliard
“Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around/Eyes on the Prize" - arranged by Ken Moyer
“He Never Said a Mumbalin’ Word" - arranged by Moses Hogan
“Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel?" - arranged by Keith Spencer
Returning to WRTI for the second year in a row, Keith is a nationally recognized entertainer and singer who has toured in Broadway productions, and sung back-up vocals for artists such as Roberta Flack, Rosemary Clooney and Sandi Patty. Joining Keith are his music director, pianist Peter Hilliard, and violinist Claudia Pellegrini.
For his program at WRTI, Keith draws from a series of concerts he’s created that highlight the African-American cultural experience, and which will take us into the worlds of gospel singer Mavis Staples, choral arranger Moses Hogan, and the inimitable bass-baritone Paul Robeson.
Tune in for a soulful and spirit-moving program of spirituals sung by Keith Spencer.
