WRTI's NPR Live Sessions Video of the Week: Trumpeter Arnetta Johnson & SUNNY Perform "Who Are You"

Trumpeter Arnetta Johnson discovered the trumpet a dozen years ago as a "band geek" at Creative and Performing Arts High School in Camden, NJ, and went on to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Mentored by both Jill Scott and Tia Fuller, Arnetta blossomed from her first professional gig with the Unity Community Center's (UCC) Little Jazz Giants, to being the featured trumpeter on both Beyoncé Formation and On The Run II tours.

Now 25, the world-class musician has worked with Warren Wolf, Esperanza Spalding, Terri Lyne Carrington, Christian McBride, Solange and Jonelle Monet—and the list keeps growing.

Named by NPR as one of the 20 Artists To Watch In 2019, the innovative trumpeter often headlines with her band, SUNNY, an acronym for Sounds Uplifting Nobility through Notes and Youth. Arnetta's uplifting Live Sessions performance at WRTI Studios features keyboardist Dan Rouse, drummer Erika Mack, Bassist/Keyboardist Nick Salcido and DJ Dilemma.
