What does WRTI share with PYO Music Institute? The love of music. And the knowledge that music can transform lives and bring joy to young people throughout our region.
The PYO Music Institute has seven program divisions: Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO), Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra (PYAO), Philadelphia Young Musicians Orchestra (PYMO), Bravo Brass, Philadelphia Region Youth String Music (PRYSM), Tune Up Philly, an El Sistema inspired after-school program, and Pizzicato Players.
“Music is a very powerful tool to affect social change." says PYO Music Institute President Louis Scaglione. "When students learn music or a child has the opportunity to learn music, they have the opportunity to develop skill sets, whether it be personal skill sets, personal management, social development, academic development, cognitive development, and they learn how to work within a community, especially once they achieve enough to be in an ensemble like Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, or one of our ensemble program divisions.”
