All day, all night, It's a marathon of women music makers on WRTI. Join us on March 8th!

Mary Swingle

We're spotlighting women in classical music and jazz on International Women's Day with an all-day celebration of women classical composers and jazz artists.

On the classical side, we're featuring the extraordinary contributions of more than 70 women composers, past and present, from 6 AM to 6 PM. Spanning the 12th-century chants of Hildegard von Bingen to works by French composer Cécile Chaminade to cutting-edge, Pulitzer winners Caroline Shaw and Jennifer Higdon, you'll hear music by composers who are familiar and others who may be new to you. Don't miss a minute!

On the jazz side, it's back-to-back ladies who swing! We're featuring all women artists from 6 PM to midnight, well-known artists, past and present, from Mary Lou Williams to Ella Fitzgerald to Cécile McLorin Salvant, and band leaders like Sherrie Maricle, and her supergroup, DIVA Jazz Orchestra, and Renee Rosnes and her supergroup, ARTEMIS.
