Join us on Sunday from 1 to 3 pm for The Philadelphia Orchestra in Concert. This week, you'll hear a re-broadcast of a performance of Bela Bartok’s Violin Concerto No. 2, infused with the dance rhythms of Hungarian folklore, and played by the multi award-winning violinist Gil Shaham.
Also on the program, more of that famous “Philadelphia Sound,” a recurring theme in this 116th season of the Orchestra, Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No.1, from the incidental music to Henryk Ibsen’s play.
The concert concludes with a work by Jean Sibelius composed during a harrowing time of serious health problems and the horrors of the First World War – his Symphony No 5.
