UPDATE: Due to technical difficulties in transmission from Israel to the U.S.,WRTI's broadcast of The Philadelphia Orchestra concert from Tel Aviv, with host Gregg Whiteside, is now scheduled to air on Tuesday, June 5 at 3:00 PM Philadelphia time.
Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts. Pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet is soloist.
You'll hear the Orchestra play in the Charles Bronfman Auditorium, home to the Israel Philharmonic. This hall has a Philadelphia connection: from 1957 to 2013 it was known as the Mann Auditorium. Sound familiar? Fredric R. Mann, the Philadelphia mover and shaker who worked to get the Mann Music Center off the ground, was also a supporter of classical music in Israel.
