Praised for their technique and "huge range of expression" (RBB Kulturradio, Berlin), violinist Judith Ingolfsson and pianist Vladimir Stoupel perform as a duo all over Europe and America. On October 30, 2018 they visited the WRTI Performance Studio and chatted with WRTI's Susan Lewis.

Iceland native and Curtis graduate, Judith Ingolfsson, and Vladimir Stoupel, born in the Soviet Union, each with solo careers, formed their piano-violin duo in 2006. Currently in residence at Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, they'll be playing there on Friday, November 2 at 7:30 pm. They're performing at the Curtis Institute of Music on Sunday November 4th at 3 pm.
They gave us a preview of those concerts, and a sample of their new release, Blues, Blanc and Rouge.

Judith Ingolfsson and Vladimir Stoupel are founders and artistic directors of festivals in Southern France and Berlin, and curate concert series in France and Berlin. They select unusual repertoire and music that "expands the form of the traditional violin-piano recital." Their goal is to create connections, tell untold stories, and take audiences on a journey to the heart of chamber music.
The Duo Ingolfsson-Stoupel regularly participates in renowned concert series and festivals, including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the festival “Voix Etouffées” in Paris, and the Brandenburgische Sommerkonzerten. The Duo has appeared at venues across the U.S., including the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and concert series in Denver, San Antonio, Indianapolis and New York City.
Their first joint CD, “En Hommage Simon Laks,” was issued in 2010 on the EDA label. Their second CD, with works by Stravinsky and Shostakovich, appeared in 2011 on AUDITE and was nominated for the International Classical Music Awards. Their three CD series “Concert-Centenaire“, that includes works by Magnard, Stephan, Vierne and Fauré was released in 2016 by Accentus Music. Their recording of the two Fauré Sonatas was nominated for the 2017 International Classical Music Awards. In 2017, the Duo released the CD “Blues, Blanc, Rouge” on the Accentus Music label, which includes the Sonatas of Ravel, Ferroud and Poulenc.
