A winner of Astrals' 2013 National Auditions and the Sphinx Competition, Colombian-American cellist Christine Lamprea has earned acclaim for her "supreme panache and charmingly effortless phrasing" (Boston Musical Intelligencer.) Christine visited WRTI 90.1 with pianist Navah Perlman on Feb. 5. They performed music of Schumann and Debussy, and chatted with host Kevin Gordon.

Christine has garnered acclaim for her performances at Carnegie Hall and The Kravis Center in Florida, among other venues. She has also premiered her own arrangements of Colombian music for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
At Haverford College on Sunday, February 10 at 3 PM, Christine and Navah perform their program "Minutes du Monde: Scenes through the Lens of the Cello," which includes music by Schumann, Benzecry, Tortelier, Gaillard, and Debussy.

Cellist Christine Lamprea started on the cello at age nine, and began her concert career six years ago after winning Astral Artists' National Auditions, the Sphinx Competition, and the Schadt National String Competition. She has since performed with the Detroit Symphony, Houston Symphony, and the San Antonio Symphony. Last year, Christine received the Sphinx Medal of Excellence for her contributions to the field as an artist of color. She studied with Bonnie Hampton at The Juilliard School and holds a Master’s degree from the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Natasha Brofsky. She is currently on the cello faculty at the Texas Christian University School of Music in Fort Worth, Texas.
Pianist Navah Perlman began performing at the age of 11 in New York City. Navah has played with the Montreal Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, and others. Navah has also played solo recitals and chamber music. Her festival appearances include the Aspen Music Festival, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, Ravinia Festival and the Barns at Wolf Trap. For many years, Ms. Perlman was in a piano trio with cellist Zuill Bailey and violinist Kurt Nikkanen.
In 2014, Navah was appointed as the Artistic Director of Lake Placid Pro Musica, a chamber music series affiliate of the Lake Placid Sinfonietta which brings chamber music to the Adirondacks during the summer season. Navah lives in New York City with her husband Robert Frost, and their four children.
