Since 1997, the Grammy-nominated wind quintet Imani Winds, has carved out a distinct presence in the classical music world with its dynamic performance, culturally poignant programming, adventurous collaborations, and inspirational outreach programs. With ensemble member composers and a deep commitment to commissioning new work, the group is enriching the traditional wind quintet repertoire while bridging American, European, African and Latin American traditions.

Imani Winds tours all over the world. Its Legacy Commissioning Project commissions and premieres new works for wind quintet written by composers of diverse musical backgrounds. Recent commissions include works by Shimon Shaheen, Jason Moran and Pulitzer Prize winner Henry Threadgill.
Imani Winds annual Chamber Music Festival in New York City, started in 2010, brings together young instrumentalists and composers from across America, with guest artists such as Tania Leon, Paula Robeson and Paquito D'Rivera.
