Wanna party with WRTI? Come to our block party with Astral for a fun, free afternoon of music played by rising classical stars, outdoors in the Midtown Village section of Center City, Philadelphia.
Join us on Saturday, September 14th from 3 to 5 PM at 1213 Walnut Street.
There will be beer, specialty cocktails and picnic fare (for purchase), face-painting for the kids and the young-at-heart, and of course, music, hosted by WRTI’s Debra Lew Harder. Pets are welcome, too. We had such a blast at least year's event, we're doing it again! More info here.
These featured artists are sure to entertain and wow you: Zlatomir Fung, cello; Rachel Lee Hall, harp; Beomjae Kim, flute; Brittany Lasch, trombone
Three 20-minute sets of music will be performed, starting at approximately 3:15 PM with 10 to 15 minute breaks between them. You'll hear tango music, great classics, and... The Beatles!
Register here and we'll send you fun updates and rain date notices if need be!
Why are we so excited about this block party, and to see YOU there? WRTI General Manager Bill Johnson sums it up: "The Block Party allows WRTI and Astral to come together around our shared values of discovering new artists, new music, and community. This fun event will remind us all that music is for everyone and there are no barriers to discovering and sharing it in our everyday lives.”
