Praised by The New York Times for her "elegant and incisive" playing, Venezulean-born pianist Gabriela Martinez visited the WRTI Performance Studio to play selections from her debut solo album, and chat with WRTI's Kevin Gordon.
Martinez appears in concert with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia on October 6th and 7th, playing works by Mozart.
In 2016, Delos released Ms. Martinez's debut solo album, Amplified Soul; the title selection is the world-premiere recording of a work written for her by Dan Visconti. The CD also features works by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Szymanowski, and Mason Bates.

More about Gabriela Martinez
Gabriela Martinez began her piano studies in Caracas with her mother and went on to attend the Juillard School. She made her orchestral debut at age 7. She was First Prize winner of the Anton G. Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Dresden and a semifinalist at the 12th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, where she also received the Jury Discretionary Award. She currently resides in Houston.
