WRTI's NPR Live Sessions Video of the Week: Singer-Songwriter Michelle Lordi

Whitney Thomas
Michelle Lordi

Songstress Michelle Lordi has blossomed into an artist who is comfortable enough to push the already fluid boundaries of jazz.

Check out the video of Michelle Lordi performing "Poor Bird" here.

Her latest album, Break Up With the Sound, finds the gifted Philadelphia-based chanteuse reimagining classics and rendering heart stirring originals. The collection inspired the Live Sessions at WRTI where the performer was accompanied by a talented all-star band, consisting of guitarist Tim Motzer, bassist Matthew Parrish and drummer Rudy Royston.

"Michelle Lordi's recent visit to the WRTI Performance Studio was truly memorable," says WRTI Jazz Host and Live Sessions Executive Producer J. Michael Harrison. "It was beautiful to witness an artist genuinely comfortable and at home with their musical creations. You get the feeling that this is the music of her life, her spirit shines through in this performance and the result is both authentic and heartfelt. The members of her band represent a level of excellence that most vocalist can only dream of assembling. We're excited to share this exceptional set of music from a gifted singer-songwriter."
