The Philadelphia Orchestra in Concert on WRTI: Bruckner, Barber, Bartok, Batiashvili

Join us Sunday, Feb. 7th at 1 PM on WRTI 90.1, and Monday, Feb. 8th at 7 PM on WRTI HD-2 to hear this stunning Philadelphia Orchestra concert broadcast from 2014, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin. On the program is Barber’s Adagio for Strings, an ethereal meditation that has emerged as an iconic piece of 20th-century American music; Bartok’s First Violin Concerto, played by Lisa Batiashvili, one of the world’s most sought-after violinists; and that imposing orchestral cathedral of sound known as Bruckner’s Symphony No. 9, Bruckner’s last work, left unfinished, which he dedicated to "Almighty God."

Detailed program notes from the concert are here.
